The Oscars will be starting soon and the big pre-Oscar talk is about the possible and somewhat expected political commentary presenters and winners will be making. Leaning to the left as I do, it is entirely possible that I might agree with more than some of what they say. That doesn’t change the fact that I really don’t want to hear it.
If I do watch the Oscars tonight, one of the reasons will be because I want an escape from the news on CNN and FOX, not more of it. I don’t deny the right of anyone to speak their mind, they may certainly do so, but I have every right to not only not like it, but to stop watching it. But for the record, I don’t like it because I don’t like this platform being used for politics, not because of my feelings for the politics. I present this question to Conservatives who are speaking out against actors speaking out at awards ceremonies. Did you dislike it just as much when Clint Eastwood did it?
